About the Role
The Employee Relations Specialist (ERS) develops and manages employer relationships to create employment opportunities for students and graduates. Under the supervision of the Director of Career Services (DCS), the ERS procures employer partnerships, Advisory Board Members, Externship Sites, and identifies grassroots activities for campus participation. The role involves maintaining organized records of employer visits, job leads, and job orders, as well as assisting with employment verification reports to document graduate placements.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain sustainable, long-term relationships with local, regional, and national employers to increase employment opportunities for graduates.
- Develop and maintain community involvement to support company branding within the campus footprint.
- Attend weekly meetings with the DCS and Career Services team to align on goals for providing employment opportunities to graduates.
- Identify job leads and job orders through employer cold-calls, off-site meetings, and prospecting.
- Follow up with employers post-interview to gather feedback and hiring possibilities.
- Communicate daily with Career Coaches and/or the DCS regarding interview feedback.
- Document all employer meetings, job leads, and job orders in CampusVue.
- Collaborate with Career Coaches to ensure opportunities align with available graduates.
- Deliver a Daily Activity Report (DAR) to the DCS daily and submit weekly expense reports for reimbursement.
- Prioritize and strategize for optimal outcomes.
- Handle sensitive school, student, and graduate information, including placement activity, regulatory details, and personal data (e.g., names, addresses, SSNs).
Requirements
- Associate’s Degree in a business/sales-related field or minimum 2 years of comparable work experience.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Strong ability to prioritize and multitask.
- Proven problem-solving skills and creativity in prospecting approaches.
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
- Technical proficiency in computer research and database management.
- Experience in relationship-building, networking, and community-based business development.
- Customer service-focused with a commitment to student-oriented satisfaction.
Physical Demands
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach with arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
- Typically works indoors, not exposed to weather conditions.
- Moderate noise level in the work environment.
