Description $30.00–$42.00/hour | Temporary, 90-Day Assignment CalNonprofits Insurance Services (CNIS) is looking for an experienced Employee Benefits Platform Project Specialist to support a major benefits administration technology transition. This is a short-term, hands-on project role supporting the sunset of Ease and migration to Employee Navigator. We are looking for someone who can step in and contribute immediately - this is not an entry-level benefits administration or platform training opportunity. The right person will already be highly proficient working in the backend of both Ease and Employee Navigator and understand the details behind building, maintaining, auditing, and troubleshooting benefits administration platforms. What You'll Be Working On Support the transition and migration of client groups from Ease to Employee Navigator.Build, configure, review, and maintain employer groups within Employee Navigator.Review existing Ease configurations and translate plan, eligibility, contribution, and enrollment structures into Employee Navigator.Audit migrated information for accuracy and identify discrepancies or missing information.Configure complex benefit plan designs, eligibility structures, employee classes, contribution strategies, and enrollment requirements.Work through California-specific benefit structures and marketplace offerings, including complex arrangements such as California Choice and Covered California.Review plan rates, employer contributions, eligibility rules, waiting periods, plan documents, and other configuration details for accuracy.Identify issues during migration and independently research, troubleshoot, and resolve them when possible.Maintain clear documentation of completed work, outstanding items, decisions, and follow-up needs.Partner with our Employee Benefits team to keep migration work organized and moving within project timelines. Requirements What You Need to Bring 2–3+ years of hands-on backend benefits administration platform build and maintenance experience.Demonstrated proficiency with both Ease and Employee Navigator.Strong understanding of employee benefits administration, enrollment, eligibility, renewals, plan setup, and maintenance.Familiarity with the California employee benefits marketplace and complex plan designs.Experience working with employer contribution strategies and different contribution structures.Ability to review detailed configurations and recognize when something doesn't look right.Strong organizational and project-management skills with the ability to manage multiple groups and deadlines simultaneously.High attention to detail and accuracy.Ability to work independently, communicate questions early, and take accountability for assigned work through completion. Preferred Applied Epic experience.Previous brokerage or benefits consulting experience.Experience participating in benefits administration platform conversions or migrations.Experience supporting multiple employer groups with varying carriers, plan designs, eligibility rules, and contribution structures. What Success Looks Like Because this is a 90-day project, we need someone who can get up to speed quickly. Success means being able to take an assigned group, understand how it is currently configured in Ease, accurately build or validate it in Employee Navigator, identify what is missing or incorrect, and move the work forward without requiring step-by-step platform training. You should be comfortable owning your assignments, documenting what you've done, asking thoughtful questions when necessary, and delivering accurate work on deadline.
