About the role
These opportunities are focused on employee benefits, ERISA, executive compensation, retirement plans, health and welfare plans, benefits compliance, and executive compensation arrangements. Candidates must have experience in employee benefits, ERISA, executive compensation, tax, or benefits compliance. They should have strong drafting and analytical skills, be comfortable advising employers, plan sponsors, or executives, and have relevant bar admission or eligibility. Candidates should be interested in technical benefits and compensation work.
Responsibilities
- Focus on executive compensation or EBEC-focused law firm experience, including executive employment agreements, severance, change-in-control protections, equity plans, stock options, RSUs, performance shares, profits interests, M&A executive compensation, 280G, 409A, 457(f), 457A, proxy compensation disclosure, comp committee counseling.
- Focus on retirement and qualified plans, including 401(k), pension, profit-sharing, plan design/amendments, plan sponsor counseling, nondiscrimination testing, plan corrections, EPCRS/VFCP, IRS/DOL audits, SECURE/SECURE 2.0, M&A benefits diligence, plan integration.
- Focus on ERISA/ESOP law, including employee benefits and compensation, ESOPs, 401(k)s, profit-sharing plans, plan drafting/amendment, ERISA compliance, fiduciary duties, plan corrections, M&A benefits due diligence, plan transitions, client relationship development.
Requirements
- Experience: 1-7 years for Executive Compensation Attorney; 4-10 years for Employee Benefits Attorney; 2-10 years for Employee Benefits/ERISA Attorney.
- Bar Admission: NY or willing/eligible to waive in/sit for NY bar; NY or willing/able to waive in; IA preferred.

- Rochester / Buffalo / Albany, NY: $139K-$192K
