eMotor System Engineer
What You'll Do
Lead system engineer to design, development, new technology implementation and validation of eMotor stator and rotor assembly
Lead pre-program eMotor design, drawing, material selection and prototype building
Lead prototype builds by collaborating with part suppliers, equipment suppliers and powertrain manufacturing team
Lead prototype testing with part suppliers, assembly equipment suppliers and eMotor testing team.
Support eMotor DV test reports
Lead technology innovation to motor design by innovation, invention disclosures, benchmarking xEV competition
Benchmarking eMotor assembly and components at Level 1 through 4
Develop engineering specifications, quality documents like Boundary Diagram, P-Diagram, DFMEA and SCCAF for components and assembly
Develop MSA for GD&T and functional requirements of components and assembly
Develop in-process, control plan and eMotor tests jointly with component D&R and manufacturing team
Lead system engineering meetings to collaborate between core EM, materials, D&R and testing teams.
Provide technical support for ongoing programs to program teams, D&R engineers, powertrain manufacturing teams.
Integrate lessons learned from previous programs and benchmarking to ensure robust prevent recurrence actions are in place.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical)
- 3+ years in product development
- Experience in eMotor, xEV transmission, power unit, gearbox design and testing activity
- Experience with a build to print or in-house manufactured commodity is a plus
Qualifications
- MSEE or MSME graduate degree preferred
- 2+ years in mechanical design engineering
- Strong working knowledge of design for manufacturability
- Experience working with suppliers. International supplier experience preferred
- Experience in Quality Disciplines (FMA, SCAAF etc.) and GPDS Deliverables
- Six sigma green or black belt
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, self-motivated, eager to take responsibility and deliver results with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated experience working with cross functional teams and driving product development issues to resolution
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of powertrain testing tools, analytical and CAE tools and performance modeling
- Knowledge of Ford processes and Tools is preferred

Pay
This position is a salary grade 5-8 and ranges from $68,300-$192,900. Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
Schedule
This position is hybrid. Candidates who are in commuting distance to a Ford hub location may be required to be onsite four or more days per week.
