Emergency Veterinary Medical Director
About the Role
VSH Roseville is seeking a Medical Director to lead our emergency team and help shape the future of our growing hospital. As Medical Director, you’ll play a key role in supporting a high-performing team, promoting clinical excellence, and fostering a collaborative, compassionate environment. With a brand-new 21,000 sq ft hospital and continued growth ahead, this is an exciting opportunity to lead a modern, ER-focused facility.
Pay
Competitive compensation around ~$200,000 annually (plus production). Production bonus-eligible based on collections and eligibility criteria. Medical Director stipend of $25,000–35,000 in addition to base salary and production. Generous sign-on bonus and relocation support.
Schedule
Truly flexible scheduling with dedicated administrative time built in. Incentives available for overnight or additional clinical shifts if desired.

Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership for emergency and critical care, ensuring high-quality medicine, innovation, and an exceptional client experience
- Partner with the Hospital Director on patient safety concerns, quality improvement initiatives, and hospital strategy, growth, and service expansion
- Mentor, coach, and develop DVMs and clinical staff through feedback, performance management, and structured development opportunities
- Support recruitment, engagement, and retention of veterinarians while fostering a collaborative, psychologically safe team culture
- Participate in and support mentorship programs, including new graduate and ER development initiatives
- Ensure timely and professional resolution of client and RDVM concerns while strengthening referral relationships
- Lead doctor meetings and hospital-wide communication to promote transparency, alignment, and engagement
- Collaborate on operational priorities including budgeting, equipment planning, regulatory compliance, and controlled substances management
- Represent the hospital in leadership forums and contribute to broader organizational initiatives
- Oversee development and maintenance of medical protocols, SOPs, patient safety standards, infection control, and medical record quality
