About the Role

Northeast Indiana Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital (NIVES) is seeking a Medical Director to guide our collaborative, expert-driven, and patient-focused hospital into its next chapter of excellence. Located in Fort Wayne, Indiana, NIVES is one of the largest specialty and emergency veterinary hospitals in the state, serving pets and their families throughout northeast Indiana, northwest Ohio, and southern Michigan.

As Medical Director, you'll have the unique opportunity to combine clinical excellence with strategic leadership while shaping the future of a thriving, multi-specialty practice. NIVES has been providing exceptional specialty and emergency care for more than 20 years and is AAHA-accredited and the only VECCS Level II Certified veterinary critical care facility in Indiana.

Responsibilities

• Providing medical leadership and strategic direction for the hospital
• Partnering with the Hospital Director to achieve operational excellence
• Mentoring and developing a talented team of veterinarians
• Leading medical quality assurance and continuing education initiatives
• Supporting recruitment, onboarding, and retention of exceptional clinicians
• Promoting a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
• Maintaining a partial clinical caseload to remain actively involved in patient care

Requirements

• Demonstrated leadership, mentorship, or medical management experience preferred
• Passion for fostering collaboration, professional growth, and exceptional patient care
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to building relationships with colleagues and the referring veterinary community
• Eligibility for veterinary licensure in the state of Indiana
