Emergency Veterinarian Medical Director

About the role

SAGE Redwood City is seeking an experienced Medical Director to lead a thriving, high-volume hospital.

Responsibilities

• Oversee medical standards, protocols, and quality initiatives
• Partner with the Hospital Director on operations, recruitment, and long-term planning
• Guide and support both ER and specialty doctors while helping to establish new house officer and ER mentorship programs
• Drive positive change, support team development, and maintain a collaborative, accountable culture
• Strengthen relationships with referring veterinarians and the local community

Requirements

• DVM or equivalent; eligible for California licensure
• 5+ years of clinical experience in a multi-specialty hospital with 2+ years in a leadership role
• Strong leadership skills with confidence in change management and addressing complex issues
• Passion for mentorship, professional development, and medical excellence
• Solutions-oriented, collaborative, and decisive

• Proven track record of leading and developing teams
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing environments

Pay

$300,000 base salary with potential for additional production earnings on clinical days.

Schedule
