THE JOB

As an Emergency Veterinarian at VEG, you will be responsible for handling a wide range of emergency cases, from routine to complex surgeries, and treating all types of pets, including exotic species. Your role involves answering medical questions over the phone, seeing patients immediately, conducting physical examinations, and communicating with clients about diagnoses and treatment plans. You will also perform minor and major emergency surgeries, endoscopic procedures, and provide education on aftercare and preventative measures.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Answer medical questions over the phone
  • See patients right away as part of the VEG Triage and VEG Spikes
  • Gather the signalment, presenting complaint, vitals, and physical exam
  • Conduct physical examinations and other required investigatory measures
  • Complete a diagnosis and create a diagnostic and therapeutic plan
  • Communicate diagnosis and treatment options directly with customers
  • Create and review medical records to ensure accuracy
  • Prepare estimates and present them to customers
  • Perform minor and major emergency surgeries
  • Perform endoscopic procedures
  • Provide education on aftercare and preventative measures

WHAT YOU NEED

  • A DVM or equivalent degree
  • Experience in emergency medicine, including emergency surgery and endoscopy
  • Strong teamwork and customer service skills
  • The ability to stand for prolonged hours, kneel, and work on the floor
  • Ability to lift up to 25 kg independently and support up to 40 kg with assistance
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays
