Emergency Veterinarian - Elk Grove, CA
About the role
VEG was founded in 2014 with a mission to improve the emergency veterinary experience for both people and their pets. Since then, VEG has grown to offer 24/7, 365-day-a-year emergency services across multiple locations, enhancing the quality of care for both patients and staff.
Responsibilities
- Answer medical questions over the phone
- See patients right away as part of the VEG Triage and VEG Spikes
- Gather the signalment, presenting complaint, vitals, and physical exam
- Conduct physical examinations and other required investigatory measures
- Create a diagnostic and therapeutic plan for each pet's condition
- Communicate diagnosis and treatment options directly with customers
- Prepare estimates and present them to customers
- Review and update medical records to ensure accuracy
- Perform minor and major emergency surgeries
- Perform endoscopic procedures
- Provide education on aftercare and preventative measures
Requirements
- A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree
- Passion for emergency medicine, including surgery and endoscopy
- Experience in team-oriented environments
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods, kneel, and work on the floor
- Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays

Pay
Base salary range: $140,000 - $350,000 per year, with an expected base salary of $180,000 - $200,000 for this role.
Schedule
Rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
