Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and repairs on Emergency Vehicles, primarily Pierce Fire Apparatus and Road Rescue Ambulances
  • Accomplish repairs and perform services as outlined in established technical manuals
  • Perform inspection and repair on Heavy Truck Components
  • Understand and follow technical manuals, lube orders, wiring, and hydraulic schematics during scheduled service intervals
  • Perform major repair jobs by disassembling and cleaning parts, removing and installing components, and removing and installing assemblies
  • Utilize diagnostic tools (both manual and electronic) to assess and evaluate required service and repairs

Requirements

  • Certification as an Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT)
  • Current Heavy Truck ASE certifications
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow technical manuals for proper diagnosis and repair
  • Light, medium, and heavy-duty truck experience
  • Ability to read and troubleshoot repairs on brakes, suspensions, wheels, hubs, and steering systems
  • Proficient in the use of a personal computer and basic applications
  • Valid Driver’s License – Class B CDL (endorsements a plus)
