Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance and repairs on Emergency Vehicles, primarily Pierce Fire Apparatus and Road Rescue Ambulances
- Accomplish repairs and perform services as outlined in established technical manuals
- Perform inspection and repair on Heavy Truck Components
- Understand and follow technical manuals, lube orders, wiring, and hydraulic schematics during scheduled service intervals
- Perform major repair jobs by disassembling and cleaning parts, removing and installing components, and removing and installing assemblies
- Utilize diagnostic tools (both manual and electronic) to assess and evaluate required service and repairs
Requirements
- Certification as an Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT)
- Current Heavy Truck ASE certifications
- Ability to read, understand, and follow technical manuals for proper diagnosis and repair
- Light, medium, and heavy-duty truck experience
- Ability to read and troubleshoot repairs on brakes, suspensions, wheels, hubs, and steering systems
- Proficient in the use of a personal computer and basic applications
- Valid Driver’s License – Class B CDL (endorsements a plus)
