Emergency Room Technical Assistant - Sterling Heights ER - 15 and Ryan - Variable Shifts - Contingent
GENERAL SUMMARY
Assist with patient care based on individual needs within the scope of practice under direct supervision of a registered nurse or Provider.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists RNs and Providers with assessments, examinations and treatments as requested.
- Prepares and assists Providers with procedures such as suturing, casting, and miscellaneous procedures.
- Assists patients as needed.
- Recognize potential of life-threatening dysrhythmias and abnormal vital signs and report same to RN/Provider.
- Adheres to hospital policy addressing standard precautions, safety regulations and guidelines.
- Documents patient care performed.
- Interact with patients and families as appropriate, ensuring excellent patient and customer experiences.
- Transports patients and supplies.
- Cleans equipment, monitors stock, and restocks equipment and supplies as required.
- Maintains departmental cleanliness and prepares rooms between patients.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- A high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
- BCLS certification required.
- Previous Emergency Department Technician, Medical Assistant experience preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED
- One of the following certifications/programs required:
- B-EMT
- Graduate from a formal Medical Assistant program.
- Completion of a formal nursing education program.
- Completion of a formal medical doctor education program
- OR One (1) year of applicable Emergency Room Technical experience in lieu of above completed certification/program.
Additional Requirements
- (Must complete applicable certification/program within 12 months of hire).
- Successful completion of a 180-day orientation period required.
- EMT license preferred.

The Henry Ford Health Sterling Heights Emergency Department is a 15-bed free-standing facility. Our staff has a close working relationship. The physicians, nurses, and technicians are all centrally located for ease of collaboration and communication, which leads to a positive work environment. While a small ED, we are fast paced and work well together. We are looking for candidates to join our team.
