Patient care

  • Performs phlebotomy, EKG’s, patient transport, splints, CPR, medication administration per competency, IV/IO intitiation, utilization of cardiac monitoring, defibrillation, pacing and cardioversion, Urinary in/out catherizations, assist with intubation.
  • Operates and maintains equipment properly, performs testing with efficiency.
  • Obtains and documents vital signs, intake and output amounts, and other as designated, collects specimens as required.
  • Must be able to prioritize duties according to current policy.
  • Performs sterile urethral catheterizations.
  • Conducts self in a proficient and professional manner.
  • Compliant with HIPAA regulations at all times.
  • Assists with turning, lifting, and positioning patients to prepare for exams and procedures.
  • Supports and promotes an environment that was conductive to quality customer service.
  • Responds to emergency situations in hospital according to current policy.
  • Properly documented all procedures as required.
  • Obtains equipment or supplies as necessary for patient care.
  • Assist with preparing rooms between patients, cleaning, restocking, and preparing area.
  • Aid physicians and nurses with physical examinations and treatment.
  • Transports patients to other departments in the hospital.

Transport

  • Provides safe appropriate level care transport of patients (emergency and routine).

Communication

  • Maintains appropriate verbal communication with team members to provide care to patient.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent or equivalent.

  • Licenses and Certifications: ACLS, PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support, CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation.

  • Work Experience: 1-3 years prior direct patient care experience.

  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Complete in-house computer training, completes hospital and ED basic orientation, prior experience or training in customer service, completes basic orientation competence checklist, demonstrates basic computer skills, maintains unit specific annual educational requirements, knows what is required and limitations of job position, demonstrates knowledge and resources necessary to provide to age appropriate care, maintains current knowledge of the regulatory standards and applicable regulatory issues, identifies variances and recommends processes that ensure hospital regulatory compliance, anticipates resources needed, assumes responsibility for own professional growth by maintaining requirements of re-licensure, re-certification and continuing education, prioritizes work and has ability to multitask, makes efficient use of time, supplies, and equipment, ensures assigned work areas are safe, and well maintained, works efficiently by successful planning and organization, uses resources wisely including equipment and supplies, must have routine interactions with: Physicians, ancillary personnel, Nursing personnel, patients, family members and visitors, demonstrates telephone etiquette and effective interpersonal skills, maintains positive, effective relationships with patients, co-workers, managers, physicians, and others. Listens; seek first to understand - then to be understood, addresses problems in positive ways, respects the dignity and privacy needs of patients and others, establishes a rapport with the patient and family to learn what is the most important to them in their hospital experience and their preferences. Communicates findings to the appropriate healthcare team members, collects data about patient care problems, prepares reports, analyzes trends, and reports information to appropriate departments for action.

Requirements

  • Licenses: Paramedic National Certification.

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED or higher.
