About the role
The Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) at Doctors Hospital of Augusta coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty.
Responsibilities
- Affords patients/families/caregivers regular assessments of pain to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention.
- Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s).
- Documents the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
- Responds promptly to patient requests.
- Anticipates and resolves patient needs proactively.
- Teaches patients/families/caregivers about their medical condition, status, treatment plan, medications and possible side effects, and follow-up measures.
- Translates complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding.
- Teaches patients/families/caregivers about any non-medicinal follow-up measures, such as healthy diet and exercise, disease prevention, and/or other lifestyle changes.
- Prepares patients and families/caregivers for future self-management.
Qualifications
- (RN) Registered Nurse
- Bachelor's Degree, or Associate Degree
- Basic Cardiac Life Support, or BCLS Instructor must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course, or PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support, or PALS Instructor must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support, or ACLS Instructor must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- No travel required
