Emergency Room Resource Pool Nurse

This role supports our free-standing emergency rooms associated with Centennial Medical Center. As an Emergency Room Float Pool Nurse, your voice to influence patient care is valued and empowered at every turn—whether through open, collaborative relationships with your direct manager or more formal opportunities through hospital councils and national nursing initiatives. You'll help shape decisions that elevate both patient outcomes and the future of nursing.

Responsibilities

• Perform direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act.
• Utilize therapeutic communication in daily practice, maintain a safe therapeutic environment, and identify nursing problems as they relate to the individual needs of the patient.
• Plan individualized patient care while utilizing an interdisciplinary approach and participate in performance improvement activities.
• Assess, plan, and evaluate patient care needs and carry out physician orders.
• Administer prescribed medications, change dressings, clean wounds, and monitor vital signs.
• Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems.
• Instruct and educate patients and families as part of a Multidisciplinary Care Planning team.
• When acting in the charge nurse role, ensure day-to-day activities deliver quality patient care in a therapeutic environment.
• Make staff assignments based on patient need, acuity, and the skill of the staff.
• Serve as a role model and clinical resource for staff.
• Respond in a timely manner to requests for information or follow-up with physician, staff, or patient issues.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) with the Tennessee Board of Nursing or compact state.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within 6 months of hire.
• 2 years of clinical nursing experience in an emergency room.
