About the role
The Emergency Medical Technician for the Emergency Room assists with a variety of direct and indirect patient care activities in the Emergency room. The EMT assists with activities of daily living, comfort care, and nutritional support under supervision of a licensed independent practitioner, manager, and/or Registered Nurse, in accordance with the Commonwealth of Virginia Board of Nursing delegation and supervision guidelines. May perform selected diagnostic and therapeutic tasks and procedures as directed.
Responsibilities
- Provides patient care, emotional support, and problem solving in accordance with hospital, nursing, and unit policy/procedure.
- Maintains a clean, safe environment, ensuring adequate inventory of supplies and equipment, and data collection pertinent to the patient population.
- Transports patients in hospital observing safety guidelines.
- Maintains advanced transport medical knowledge and abilities.
- Interacts with physicians, patients, families, staff members, and the community.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent required.
- Certified in the State of Virginia as an EMT-Advanced, EMT-Intermediate, or EMT-Paramedic required.
- AHA BLS - HCP and ACLS required.
- Must maintain continuing education hours to meet re-certification status as required by State and National standards.
Pay
Compensation Range: $18.70 - $26.18 per hour. Employee pay is based on a variety of factors, including qualifications, credentials, education, and prior work experience. The compensation range does not include benefits or pension plan.
