About the role
A Flight Paramedic is responsible for safely transporting patients via air, providing advanced pre-hospital and intra-hospital care, including scene call work. The role involves functioning as a vital member of the medical flight team, assisting with pre-mission briefings, aircraft safety, operational tasks, and fostering positive relationships with colleagues, EMS, hospitals, and the public.
Responsibilities
- Complete and submit electronic patient care records in a timely manner
- Conduct daily base checks, including narcotic counts
- Provide advanced life support care from initial patient contact to transfer
- Participate in ongoing training to maintain skills and certifications
- Ensure equipment maintenance and safety compliance
- Perform pre-mission briefings and assist with aircraft safety and operational tasks, such as radio and navigational support
- Coordinate and fill open shifts as needed
Requirements
- Minimum three years’ experience in 911 or critical care settings
- Current EMT-P license in the assigned area
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, and trauma certifications; advanced certifications preferred
- Instructor certifications and NREMT-P may be required
- Knowledge of equipment maintenance and safety procedures
- Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork orientation
