About the role
The Emergency Mgmt & Safety Prog Mgr at MultiCare is the subject matter expert for emergency management and hospital safety within a defined service area. This role leads the implementation of emergency preparedness standards and initiatives across the system, regional, and local entities to ensure readiness for all-hazard events.
Responsibilities
- Manage the regional Emergency Management and Safety programs to ensure regulatory requirements are met, including completing surveys and investigations from regulatory agencies.
- Complete Pre-Construction Risk Assessments (PCRA’s) and Infection Control Risk Assessments (ICRA’s) to support construction and incident response.
- Conduct Fire Drills for all hospital and ambulatory sites.
- Develops, maintains and implements all Hazard Vulnerability Assessments, Business Continuity Plans and Emergency Management Plans for assigned service area.
- Supports the organization’s response to disasters/emergencies as a key member of the Incident Management Team and key advisor to leaders.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management or related field.
- Minimum three (3) years of Emergency Management and Safety experience, preferably in a hospital environment.
- Minimum two (2) years of relevant healthcare experience.
- Completion of FEMA courses: ICS 100, ICS 200, ICS 300, ICS 400, IS 700, IS 800.
- OSHA 30 (General Industry).
- Certification in Industrial/Occupational Safety and HazWoper or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
- Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP), preferred.
- Certified Emergency Manager® (CEM®), preferred.
- Master Exercise Practitioner Program (MEPP), preferred.
- Associate in Risk Management (ARM), preferred.
- Project Management Professional (PMP), preferred.

Founded in 1896, MultiCare Deaconess Hospital is a 388-bed acute-care hospital serving the greater Spokane region. It is home to a Level III Trauma Center, Certified Chest Pain Center, Primary Stroke Center, Maternal Fetal Medicine program and a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. It is the only hospital in the area with national accreditation in bariatric surgery. Deaconess provides high-quality inpatient, outpatient, surgical, diagnostic and emergency services.

Pay and Benefits
We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. The pay scale is $97,822.40 - $140,732.80 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant’s years of experience align.
