About the role

The University of Pittsburgh Physicians Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking an innovative and energetic Program Director to lead our long-standing and highly acclaimed Emergency Medicine Residency program. The ideal candidate will be passionate about teaching, research, collaboration, and engaging in rewarding clinical work. Our faculty are active locally and around the world, experts in all aspects of emergency and acute care medicine, and frequently sought to guide policy and advances.

Responsibilities

• Lead our EM Residency Program, ensuring excellence in quality, outcomes, and compliance with ACGME, institutional, and departmental standards in conjunction with a full suite of EM fellowship programs.
• Oversee curriculum development and the educational environment to prepare residents for independent practice, scholarship, and leadership in emergency medicine.
• Lead the team that helps accomplish these important aspects across a multi-site training environment.
• Recruit and support outstanding residents while fostering professional identity formation, mentorship, and career development.
• Advance the departmental mission through teaching, scholarship, faculty development, and high-quality clinical care.

Candidate Qualifications

• Board certified in Emergency Medicine.
• Minimum of three years of experience in residency program leadership.
