Emergency Medical Technology Coordinator - full-time faculty

About the Role

This is a 12-month, full-time faculty position responsible for delivering instruction in various formats (online, in-person, videoconferencing, or any combination) in the discipline(s) for which you have been employed. Instruction may take place at any of the college’s campuses, a clinical partner facility, or a designated temporary location. Faculty also provide academic advising and facilitate student success using technology tools to communicate with and support students. This role includes participation in divisional and institutional activities related to the college’s mission, engagement with communities of interest, and promotion of college programs.

Faculty serving as department coordinators agree to accept additional administrative responsibilities, including leadership for specific discipline(s), ensuring smooth operation of the area, and overseeing part-time faculty teaching in the department.

Responsibilities

Faculty Essential Functions

• Deliver instruction and evaluate student learning in all instructional delivery formats offered by the department, including in-person, online, hybrid, live streaming, and clinical.
• Teach a minimum of 15 hours per week within a 37.5-hour workweek and hold in-person and virtual office hours as defined in College Policy.
• Maintain an environment conducive to learning and be responsible for course and laboratory preparation.
• Actively participate in curriculum and program development, revision, and evaluation.
• Provide academic advising to students with an emphasis on retention and success.
• Remain current in the teaching area(s) through professional development activities.
• Actively participate on divisional and institutional committees.
• Collaborate in building and maintaining relationships within and beyond the institution.
• Contribute to the pursuit and achievement of program, division, and institutional mission and strategy.
• Support the development and oversight of programs and services that result in enrollment, progression, retention, and graduation growth.

Coordinator Essential Functions

• Monitor curriculum development, improvement, and evaluation, including program review, Academic Audit, and student learning outcomes assessment for the disciplines in the department.
• Oversee department planning/evaluation and document meetings.
• Determine staffing needs and work with the dean and executive vice president/provost to recruit and hire faculty with an emphasis on maintaining diversity.
• Assist in the orientation, supervision, and evaluation of part-time faculty.
• Assist the dean in collaborating with extended services personnel to schedule department course offerings for all college locations.
• Participate in the articulation of courses and programs with other educational institutions.
• Work with discipline lead faculty to ensure that materials, supplies, equipment, and book orders are available at all campus locations.
• Assist the division dean in the resolution of student grievances related to academic policies, procedures, and personnel in the area.

Supplemental Functions

• Actively participate in institutional and community activities that support the institution's mission.
• Support and follow Columbia State's, TBR, and other applicable policies and guidelines.
• Continue to develop professionally.
• Utilize technology as a tool for enhancement of operation, instruction, and services.

Requirements

• Associate degree minimum (Bachelor’s in EMS or related field preferred).
• Tennessee Paramedic license (or eligible) without history of revocation, denial, or suspension of licensure.
• Paramedic Instructor/Coordinator endorsement (or eligible).
• Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications (or equivalent).
• Minimum two (2) years (full-time equivalent) work experience in the pre-hospital environment.
