Emergency Medical Technician (Casual) Medical Transport

About the role

Allegheny Health Network has (4) positions available. Provides emergency medical care to the sick and injured patients in the prehospital and hospital environment; effectively communicates with all persons and departments involved in the administration of emergency medical care.

Responsibilities

• Drives emergency vehicle. (20%)
• Determines nature and extent of illness or injury; provide basic life support and transport to the critically ill and injured in the prehospital setting. (50%)
• Completes required documentation according to regulatory standards. (15%)
• Maintains equipment and inventory of supplies including BLS and ALS and has accountability for medications on every EMS unit per regulatory standards. (15%)
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications

• Minimum: High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• PA EMT license or EMS Compact Privilege to Practice in Pennsylvania at the EMT level.
• Preferred: Six months’ experience in the field of prehospital care.
• Preferred certifications: ITLS/PHTLS, ABLS, ASLS.
• Additional employment requirements:
  • EMSVO within 30 days of hire
  • Valid Driver's License
  • CPR – American Heart Association
  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
