Full-time, night-shift position (12-hour shift: 7:00pm to 7:00am) at St. Joseph Medical Center – Kansas City, MO.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, immediate patient care by utilizing EMT training to administer basic life support, stabilize patients, and respond swiftly to medical emergencies in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Perform detailed patient assessments to evaluate vital signs, symptoms, and medical history, ensuring timely identification of urgent needs and accurate communication with the healthcare team.
- Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and allied health professionals to contribute to an integrated care approach, promoting continuity and efficiency in patient treatment plans.
- Assist in triaging patients upon arrival by assessing the severity of their condition and supporting decisions on prioritization of care based on clinical protocols.
- Maintain precise and thorough documentation of patient interactions, treatments, and outcomes in electronic medical records (EMR), supporting legal compliance and clinical continuity.
- Inspect and manage emergency medical equipment and supplies to ensure optimal functionality, cleanliness, and availability, contributing to a safe and prepared emergency care environment.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (or related experience required for new hires effective April 2014).
- Basic EMT Training or E.R. experience required.
- Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
- Current ACLS certificate within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
- Current PALS certificate within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
- Certified/Licensed EMT by the state certifying agency/entity required.
- Military experience as a Field Medic or Flight Medic or licensed First Responder is encouraged.
