About the role

The Emergency Management, Business Continuity & Safety Specialist supports care sites by advancing preparedness, response, and resilience capabilities while promoting a safe environment for caregivers and patients. This role operates across geographically dispersed sites not tied to a single campus and partners closely with leaders to ensure readiness for emergencies and continuity of operations.

Responsibilities

  • Supports implementation of emergency management programs across sites within the market or area.
  • Aids in the activation and operational support of incident command, including support of Administrator on Call (AOC) structures.
  • Coordinates and supports during incidents to ensure effective communication, situational awareness, and adherence to response protocols.
  • Plans, facilitates, and evaluates exercises (e.g., drills, tabletops) tailored to outpatient settings.
  • Contributes to risk assessments and mitigation planning at the clinic level.
  • Supports development, maintenance, and validation of business continuity plans across ambulatory sites.
  • Partners with leaders to identify critical functions, dependencies, and recovery strategies.
  • Assists with downtime preparedness and response (e.g., IT disruptions, facility impacts).
  • Identifies gaps and supports implementation of continuity improvements.
  • Builds and maintains effective working relationships with market, clinic, and/or operational leaders.
  • Conducts routine rounding to assess preparedness, reinforce standards, and identify risks.
  • Serves as a market-facing resource for emergency management, continuity, and safety guidance.
  • Promotes alignment between system standards and clinic-level practices.
  • Supports compliance with life safety, emergency preparedness, and regulatory requirements (e.g., CMS, Joint Commission, OSHA, and EPA).
  • Supports evacuation planning, fire safety, and safety drills and conducts safety rounding, safety inspections, and supports mitigation of hazards.
  • Safeguards workplace violence prevention efforts, including training coordination and awareness initiatives.
  • Provides basic support for occupational safety programs, including hazard identification and follow-up.
  • Assists with industrial hygiene concerns in partnership with subject matter experts.
  • Supports incident investigation and assists with root cause analysis.
  • Safeguards clinic-level security awareness and response coordination.
  • Escalates complex issues to appropriate specialized teams.
  • Delivers, tracks, and/or coordinates training for leaders and caregivers on safety, emergency response, and business continuity.
  • Supports Administrator on Call (AOC) training and readiness activities.
  • Reinforces preparedness through ongoing education, engagement, and just-in-time training.

Requirements

  • Experience in emergency management, business continuity, safety, or related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships across multiple sites and teams.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and accreditation standards (e.g., CMS, Joint Commission, OSHA).
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); ability to prepare reports.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to effectively communicate emergency management and safety information to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management, Public Health, Safety, Healthcare Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience supporting ambulatory care or distributed healthcare environments.
  • Familiarity with incident command systems and healthcare emergency response frameworks.
  • Familiarity with industrial hygiene, occupational health, hazardous materials, and environmental compliance.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CEM, CBCP, ASP).
  • OSHA 30-hour certificate.
  • Experience facilitating exercises, drills, or training programs.

Pay

Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience. $34.26 - $53.96

Schedule

Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs. Frequent interactions with customers that require employee to communicate as well as understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately. Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer, phone, and cable set-up and use. Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transport, pull, and push equipment. Will also work on hands and knees and bend to set-up, troubleshoot, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items. For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.
