Overview

Piedmont Eastside Medical Center- Emergency Dept is seeking positive, self-motivated, engaged, and excited for growth individuals to join their team. The 38-bed Emergency Department handles an average of 160 patients per day with various acuities. They are a primary Stroke and STEMI receiving facility capable of thrombolysis intervention and have two helicopter pads for emergency transport.

The department includes Charge nurses, ED Flow Coordinators, Paramedics, ED Techs, PCTs, Mental Health Technicians, and Unit Secretaries who collaborate closely with ED Providers to deliver exceptional care. All staff must have a BLS certification, with RNs needing ACLS and PALS certifications. NIH certifications are preferred but must be obtained within a specified timeframe.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in clinical aspects of patient care with all members of the health care team under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse.
  • Provides care to the age-specific population assigned, including performing assigned tasks according to competency and approved policies and standards.
  • Initiates Intensive Care Unit (ICU) treatments using aseptic techniques and documents the time, size, and location of placement.
  • Assists in comfort measures such as toileting assistance, providing blankets, and ensuring privacy for patients.
  • Communicates changes in patient status to the registered nurse or licensed practical nurse and contributes relevant information.
  • Ensures an aesthetically pleasing and safe environment for patients and families, maintaining cleanliness and tidiness of treatment rooms.
  • Performs waived lab testing, maintaining accurate logs and completing daily controls.
  • Aids in the implementation of the medical plan of care based on assessments conducted by primary and secondary evaluations.
  • Performs therapeutic functions as delegated by a registered nurse, including data collection, documentation of chief complaints, vital sign monitoring, and phlebotomy.
  • Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing, manages multiple priorities, and works collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Uses Microsoft Office applications proficiently.

Qualifications

  • Required: Current Georgia Basic EMT Certification or National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians Registry/Intermediate Level certification, or previous Georgia Basic EMT Certification or National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians Registry/Intermediate Level certification.
  • Required or In Lieu of 2 years of patient care tech and/or Emergency Room Tech experience: A student currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program and has completed at least one semester of clinical rotations within an acute care hospital.
  • Required: BCLS - Basic Life Support certification, current BLS CPR Card, and must obtain NIH certifications within a specified timeframe.
