What You'll Be Doing
- Absorb and document vital signs, patient information, and clinical observations
- Perform phlebotomy on pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients
- Perform 12-lead EKGs and assist with cardiac monitoring activities
- Conduct point-of-care testing, including blood glucose and urine pregnancy testing
- Assist with emergency response procedures and patient care interventions
- Absorb and prepare patients for provider examinations and procedures
- Transport patients throughout the hospital for testing, treatment, and admission
- Support patient mobility, comfort, and activities of daily living as needed
- Document patient care activities accurately in the electronic medical record
- Maintain a safe, organized, and well-stocked care environment
- Participate in disaster preparedness and department readiness activities

What Is Required (Education)
- A High School Diploma or GED
- Previous healthcare experience
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
- Minimum one year of EMS, military corpsman, hospital-based, or similar patient care experience
- Nursing student in good standing
- Basic medical terminology knowledge
- Successful completion of an accredited EMT program
- RMA or CMA certification
Additional Requirements
- BLS certification required by the end of orientation and must be maintained throughout employment
- Successful completion of department, unit, and job-specific competencies
- Successful completion of Basic EKG certification with a score of 80% or greater
- Successful completion of the 12-Lead EKG course within six months of hire
- Ability to read and interpret data from monitoring equipment and computer systems
- Ability to gather patient information and communicate findings appropriately to the Registered Nurse
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and members of the healthcare team
- Ability to accept delegation, prioritize tasks, and respond to rapidly changing situations
- Ability to rotate to other designated areas within the department as needed
- Basic computer proficiency and experience utilizing electronic medical record systems
- Safety to assist with patient transfers, transport, lifting, repositioning, and mobility needs
- To meet the physical demands of the role, including prolonged standing, walking, and assisting with patient movement
