Emergency Department Technician - Nights

Part‑time (24 hours/week), night shift — Sentara Leigh Hospital Emergency Department, Norfolk, VA.

About the role

Assists the Physician, Advanced Practitioner, or Nurse in implementing plans of care for emergency/minor emergency care patients. Performs patient procedures and treatments under the supervision of the Physician, Advanced Practitioner, or Nurse. De‑escalation and physical intervention training required within 15 days of hire. BLS certification required within 90 days of hire for all incumbents.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
• Previous clinical experience (required)
• One of the following at time of hire:
  • EMT‑B with state or national certification
  • Successful completion of US Military Hospital Corps School (qualified MMAC candidates)
  • Current student enrolled in a clinical program (e.g., RN, LPN, Respiratory, Physical Therapy) having completed at least one semester
• Candidates with prior employment in the Sentara ED Tech job code within the past two years may be considered in lieu of the above certification criteria

Pay

Base pay range for full‑time employment: $20.07 – $29.88 per hour. Additional compensation may include shift differentials, on‑call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra‑shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Actual compensation varies based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs.
