About the role

This position is on-site in Norfolk, Virginia. Position Status: Part-time (24 hours a week), Nights-3rd shift. Position Location: Sentara Norfolk General Hospital Emergency Department.

Standard Working Hours

3rd Shift - 7:00PM - 7:00AM

Overview

Assists the Physician, Advanced Practitioner, or Nurse in implementing plans of care for emergency/minor emergency care patients. Performs patient procedures and treatments under the supervision of the Physician, Advanced Practitioner, or Nurse. De-escalation and physical intervention training within 15 days of hire. BLS certification within 90 days of hire for all incumbents.

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • New incumbents must have one of the following in addition to the minimum Education :
    • EMT-B with state or national certification at time of hire
    • Successful completion of US Military Hospital Corps School, qualified MMAC candidates
    • Current student enrolled in clinical program (e.g., RN, LPN, Respiratory, Physical Therapy) having completed at least one semester within the program.
    • Candidates with prior employment in the Sentara ED tech job code in the past two years will also be considered in lieu of the 3 criteria above.
