Emergency Department Technician
Ogallala, Nebraska – Night shift – Full-time (36 hrs/week, 6:00 PM – 6:30 AM)

About the Role
As a full-time Emergency Department Technician (CNA licensure only), you will provide patient care and assist health-care providers in both the Emergency Department and inpatient units. This role offers exposure to emergency, inpatient, and obstetric supportive care under the general supervision of RNs, APNs, PAs, or physicians.
Responsibilities
- Perform assigned procedures: EKGs, wound cleansing, vital signs (initial, repeat, orthostatic), monitor-lead application, specimen collection, and transport of stable telemetry or non-monitored patients.
- Perform advanced skills (where state statute permits): blood glucose testing, phlebotomy, saline-lock insertion, IV discontinuation, and bladder (Foley) catheterization on patients twelve years and older upon direct delegation.
- Set up, prepare patients, and assist with exams and minor surgical procedures: lumbar punctures, sterile-field prep, suturing, chest-tube insertion, closed-fracture reduction, gastric lavage, pelvic exams, restraint application, and CPR.
- Apply orthopedic devices, including pre-manufactured and plaster splints under physician direction.
- Collect and ensure specimen integrity; perform point-of-care testing (blood glucose, hemoccult, gastroccult) and quality-control checks.
- Communicate patient-status updates to providers and document accurately in the patient record.
- Maintain supply stock, medication rooms, exam-room carts, and specialty carts; notify support services to ensure a safe environment.
- Assist with health-unit coordination, reception duties, and orientation of new ED Technicians.
- Attend department meetings and educational sessions.
Requirements
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Either Emergency Medical Technician–Basic (EMT-B) or higher with state licensure/certification, or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license in Nebraska (required for new hires and transfers).
- Basic computer skills, effective written/verbal communication, and problem-solving ability.
