About the role
These positions assist the Registered Nurse (RN) in the efficient operation of the Emergency Department or general nursing units. Under direct RN supervision, the technician/aide provides care to meet patient and department needs.
Responsibilities
- Obtain and document a full set of vital signs
- Provide 1:1 observation of suicidal, restrained, or confused patients
- Assist with patient transportation needs
- Collect urine and stool specimens
- Answer call lights
- Restock and clean patient rooms
- Clean and change linen on stretchers
- Assist during a code 99 (medical emergency)
- Clean and disinfect dirty instruments
- Perform other duties within scope of skills as requested by the supervising RN to aid and facilitate acute nursing care
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent required
- EMT or LNA (Licensed Nursing Assistant) preferred
- Current licensure as a Licensed Nursing Assistant in the State of Vermont – unrestricted is strongly preferred
- 1 or more years of EMT experience preferred
- CPR certification required within 6 months of employment
