Emergency Department Nurse Extern

About the Role

The Nurse Extern supports licensed nursing staff by assisting with basic to intermediate patient care activities under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Perform tasks such as vital signs, hygiene care, intake and output (I&O) measurement, tube feedings, dressing and pin care, ostomy management, catheter removal, specimen collection, blood glucose monitoring, and emergency response.
• Assist with unit coordination, transportation, and communication between departments.
• React promptly to emergencies and report pertinent patient information.

Requirements

• High School diploma required.
• Active enrollment in an ADN or BSN program with completion of Nursing Fundamentals.
• Certifications in BLS (Basic Life Support) are mandatory upon hire.

• Communicate effectively and work collaboratively within a healthcare team.
• React quickly to emergency situations and adhere to organizational policies.
