About the Role

Bayhealth Medical Center is Central and Southern Delaware’s healthcare leader with hospitals in Dover and Milford, as well as stand-alone Emergency Department in Smyrna and a hybrid Emergency Department and Urgent Care in Milton. We offer various practice settings throughout Kent and Sussex Counties. Bayhealth Medical Center Kent Campus is 90 minutes from Philadelphia, Washington, DC and Baltimore. Our Sussex Campus is 30 minutes to the Delaware beaches.

Works in collaboration with an emergency department physician/APC to assess the physical and/or mental needs of patients admitted to the clinical decision unit. Orders, interprets, and records results of clinical tests and reports results to rounding physician. Prescribes medications and makes recommendations for other therapeutic forms of treatment. Evaluates a wide variety of ailments, sometimes with little to no information, and must be able to think and act quickly to make a tentative diagnosis and determine the appropriate course of treatment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide patient medical services within the training and experience of the practitioner.
  • Obtain complete, detailed, and accurate medical histories on patients.
  • Perform health assessments and physical examinations and record all pertinent patient data.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other health professionals.
  • Interpret and integrate patient data to establish presumptive diagnoses and order appropriate laboratory studies, radiology, and other diagnostic procedures.
  • Evaluate and disposition patients efficiently.
  • Perform allowed procedures, prescribe, and administer drugs in accordance with federal and state laws and standards of practice.
  • Provide instructions, guidance, and counseling regarding medical care to patients and their families.
  • Perform call backs as instructed.
  • Complete patient charts in EPIC within 72 hours of seeing the patient.
  • Provide monthly schedule availability within the established time frame.
  • Maintain licenses, required certificates, and education, including Bayhealth annual education.
  • Review all medical (laboratory and radiology) reports concerning patients.
  • Attend staff and committee meetings unless working post night or late evening shifts or have an excused absence, including bi-annual APC meetings.
  • All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Completion of a Masters Program as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA).
  • Credentials: Nurse Practitioner-Certified (NP-CSR) or Physician Assistant-Certified (PA-C or PA-CSR).
  • Experience can be part of core PA or APN training.
  • Must meet minimum criteria for medical staff privileges.

Pay

Salary range: $69.18 - $107.23 hourly.

Schedule

Per Diem, 0 hours, variable shift.

Location: Kent Campus Hospital.
