Emergency Assistance Provider
About the role
This position is responsible for Emergency Assistance Services at the Portsmouth Worship and Service Center location. Services include assessing the basic needs of low-income individuals and families, providing assistance in the form of food, financial aid, vouchers for in-kind items such as clothing and furniture, and linking participants to services that will help stabilize their crisis.
This role will conduct and/or assist with registration for seasonal programs and all stabilization courses offered by the Emergency Assistance program. The position works in harmony with the Corps Officer to carry out The Salvation Army’s mission and ministry.
Responsibilities
- Assess the basic needs of low-income individuals and families.
- Provide assistance through food, financial aid, and vouchers for in-kind items (e.g., clothing, furniture).
- Link participants to services that help stabilize their crisis.
- Conduct and/or assist with registration for seasonal programs and stabilization courses.
- Collaborate with the Corps Officer to support The Salvation Army’s mission and ministry.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field or at least 2 years of experience in a service setting.
- Willingness to uphold and support The Salvation Army’s mission and ministry.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to drive a 12-passenger van.
- ServSafe Manager qualification (can be obtained after hire).
