About the role

In this role as an Embedded Software/Firmware Engineer I, you will design, implement, and test embedded software/firmware that maximizes the value of our oximetry and anesthesia monitoring products for our customers. This is an onsite role located at our Lafayette, CO campus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, document, and maintain embedded software and firmware using mixed-signal MCUs for vital sign monitoring platforms.
• Apply appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the software development life cycle to support engineering applications and a wide range of products.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including clinicians, customers, and key opinion leaders, to better understand use environments and needs.
• Learn about technologies used to measure physiological signals and apply knowledge of human physiology to support product design decisions and prioritize design tradeoffs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering/science degree with applicable coursework and knowledge.
• Ability to work in a team environment both locally and globally.
• For degrees earned outside the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Qualifications

• Coursework in medical device development, design control, FDA, and MDR regulations.
• Class experience using AI in code and test development.
• Digital circuit design knowledge.
• Experience with C/C++ and Python.
• Examples of projects demonstrating "systems thinking" — the ability to consider problems, implementations, and impacts at a higher system level.
• Knowledge of safety risk management, including SFMEAs and cybersecurity risk management.
• Effective communication and presentation skills.
• Excellent prioritization and organizational skills.
• Highly skilled in problem-solving and analysis with strong attention to detail.
• General knowledge of biology and physiology.

Pay

Salary ranges for U.S. locations (excluding Puerto Rico) are $74,400.00 - $111,600.00 USD. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
