Embedded Software Engineer – Madison, WI
About the role
Sound Devices is seeking Embedded Software Engineers to join our dynamic team. We develop audio and RF products used by professionals in various demanding environments, from Hollywood productions to Olympic events.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and support embedded real-time software in C and C++
- Develop software for Linux and real-time operating systems (RTOS)
- Write device drivers or device-level programming
- Work with common IC devices and protocols (EEPROM, I2C, SPI, UART, etc.)
- Use hardware debugging tools (oscilloscope, DMM, JTAG, etc.)
- Collaborate with other software and hardware engineers
- Perform independent work and solve complex problems
- Stay updated on new technologies and troubleshooting techniques
- Gain hands-on experience with RF systems and professional audio
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- Experience developing software in C or C++ for embedded systems
- Experience developing software for Linux and real-time operating systems (RTOS)
- Experience writing device drivers or device-level programming
- Familiarity with common IC devices and protocols (EEPROM, I2C, SPI, UART, etc.)
- Experience with hardware debugging tools (oscilloscope, DMM, JTAG, etc.)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with others
- Tons of common sense, excellent troubleshooting skills, and a strong curiosity
- Knowledge of RF systems and professional audio is a plus
