Embedded Software Engineer I (Onsite)
Location: Cedar Rapids, IA (Onsite)
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a DoD Secret security clearance. An active and existing security clearance is required after day one.
About the role
As a Software Engineer I on our team, you will play a key role in the design, development, integration, and verification of embedded software solutions for aerospace and defense applications. You will collaborate with experts across disciplines, including hardware, systems, and FPGA engineering, and work in an agile environment to develop innovative products for mission-critical applications.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, integrate, and verify embedded software solutions
- Work on complex and interesting problem domains, including cryptography, waveform & networking protocols, embedded devices, DevSecOps, command & control, and project engineering
- Implement and test software solutions using tools and languages such as Rust, C++, and Python
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in both in-person and virtual settings
- Gain experience in the full software development lifecycle and agile methodologies
- Develop expertise in embedded environments and contribute to mission-critical projects
Requirements
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued DoD Secret security clearance (U.S. citizenship required)
- Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with less than 2 years of prior relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Comfortable working with C, C++, Rust, Python, and/or Linux
- Experience coding in an embedded environment
- Security-focused mindset
- Familiarity with multi-threaded and object-oriented development
- Understanding of asymmetric and symmetric encryption basics

Pay
The salary range for this role is $57,200 – $108,800 USD. The range is representative of all experience levels. Factors considered include role, function, responsibilities, work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
