About the role
Starfish Space is seeking an embedded software engineer to build core software technologies for our satellite systems, including relative navigation, robotics, and grappling teams. This role involves developing software that controls key technologies enabling our satellites to interact with other spacecraft and actuate proprietary mechanisms. It’s an opportunity to contribute to novel spaceflight technology.
Responsibilities
- Develop high-performance embedded software for satellite systems.
- Work on relative navigation, robotics, and grappling software.
- Build and maintain hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and processor-in-the-loop (PIL) systems.
- Write software for diverse compute hardware and architectures.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in embedded software development.
- Experience creating and working with HIL/PIL systems.
- Proficiency in Python and C++.
- Must be a U.S. person (citizen, permanent resident, or designated asylee/refugee) due to ITAR regulations.
- Willingness to work on-site in Tukwila, Washington.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced startup environment.
- B.S. degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in the aerospace industry is a plus but not required.
