Embedded Software Engineer
About the role
As an experienced and self-motivated Embedded Software Engineer, you will work with an experienced team of software developers and product management to develop cutting-edge digital audio products. You will be responsible for the software design, development, test, and delivery of consumer electronics products. In this role you will apply your experience using and working with embedded processors, embedded Linux, real time operating systems, build systems, programming languages, network architectures, and software development tools.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop efficient, bug-free software.
- Follow a disciplined Agile/Scrum software development process in task estimation, design, development, code reviews, unit/integration testing and defect fixing of products.
- Work with subject matter experts to produce requirements and develop solutions.
- Assist in the creation of technical design documents for the products.
- Participate in application design sessions and code reviews to ensure accuracy towards product requirements.
- Analyze existing software to debug and troubleshoot reported issues.
- Work with other engineers to promote the reuse of code and designs in current projects.
- Identify and recommend software development process improvement initiatives.
- Assist in the technical analysis of potential tools and commercial products.
Requirements
- BS or MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Math, Physics or equivalent technical degree.
- 5+ years of software engineering experience with embedded systems.
- 3+ years experience with SVN, GIT or equivalent software version control.
- 3+ years using the C programming language.
- 3+ years using the C++11 or later programming language.
- 3+ years working in a Linux software development environment.
- 2+ years using scripting languages (Bash, Perl, Python or similar).
- 2+ years experience with Buildroot or Yocto or equivalent.
- 2+ years experience with embedded real-time operating systems.
- Experience with embedded development tools.
- Experience with all phases of the software development lifecycle.
- Excellent communication and effective writing skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with consumer electronics development.
- Experience with audio development.
- Experience with multi-core firmware design and inter-processor communications.
- Experience with Linux kernel development.
- Proficient with standard software development defect tracking systems (such as Bugzilla, Jira or similar).
- Understanding of peripheral interfaces including: I2C, SPI, UART, USB, Ethernet, HDMI, etc.
- Hands-on experience in using development tools (IDEs, Emulators, analyzers, oscilloscopes) and debugging of real-time issues.

Pay
$97,500 - $143,000. Dependent on the position offered, other forms of compensation are also available, such as bonuses or commission. Pay is based on a wide range of factors, including, without limitation, skill set, experience, training, location, and business need.
