Embedded Software Engineer

About the role

The Opportunity: As an embedded software engineer, you know how to create and maintain crucial pieces of software. You use your expertise to write and optimize code that creates a bridge between pieces of software, allowing them to communicate. We’re looking for a seasoned embedded software engineer like you to develop technology for our clients’ most important mission-forward challenges. As a lead embedded software engineer at Booz Allen, you’ll oversee a team that develops systems, sites, and tools for our clients. Using the latest tools and technology, you’ll be responsible for the writing, testing, and editing of code while leading a team to achieve technical objectives. You’ll share your skills as you develop software that supports hardware functionality on a wide range of devices, as well as configure solutions based on the platform being used. You’ll partner with other stakeholders to troubleshoot and correct operational issues, as well as with cybersecurity specialists to ensure that the software you’re creating is secure.

Responsibilities

• Design, modify, develop, write, and implement software programming applications using Agile methodology
• Design, develop, implement, and support embedded software that supports hardware functionality on a wide range of devices, and optimize code based on the platform being used
• Acquire client requirements and resolve workflow problems through automation optimization
• Work with automated testing tools to perform testing and maintenance
• Mentor and supervise employees within a fast-paced, collaborative team environment
• Partner with other stakeholders to troubleshoot and correct operational issues, as well as with cybersecurity specialists to ensure that the software you’re creating is secure

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience designing, modifying, developing, writing, and implementing software programming applications using Agile methodology
• 8+ years of experience designing, developing, implementing, and supporting embedded software that supports hardware functionality on a wide range of devices, and optimizing code based on the platform being used
• 8+ years of experience with embedded software languages and products
• Experience acquiring client requirements and resolving workflow problems through automation optimization
• Experience working with automated testing tools to perform testing and maintenance
• Ability to work with SE Linux

Qualifications

• Master's degree or 10+ years of experience in software engineering in lieu of a degree

Skills

• Embedded programming and scripting languages, including Java, GoLang, or C/C++
• Red Hat Enterprise Linux

Benefits

Pay

The projected compensation range for this position is $86,900.00 to $198,000.00 (annualized USD).

Schedule

Remote: If this position is listed as remote, there may still be occasions when you are required to work in person at a Booz Allen or customer facility.
Hybrid: If this position is listed as hybrid, you will be expected to work from a Booz Allen facility frequently, in alignment with leadership expectations and the needs of the role.
Onsite: If this position is listed as onsite, work will primarily be performed at a Booz Allen office or customer facility, where employees will collaborate directly with colleagues and customers as required by the role.
