About the role

We are seeking an experienced Embedded Software Development Engineer with expertise in real-time embedded software development to lead requirements, design, and development activities for safety-critical airborne systems. The ideal candidate will guide development lifecycles to satisfy DO-178 objectives and provide technical leadership across development activities, including input to certification and verification teams.

Location: The role can be onsite (CT), hybrid, or fully remote.

Responsibilities

  • Perform end-to-end software development activities for embedded aerospace and defense systems from concept to integration.
  • Collaborate across systems, hardware, software, verification, and certification teams.
  • Ensure compliance of safety-critical software in accordance with DO-178 objectives by supporting certification audits, reviews, and data package development.
  • Define, solve, and defend technical decisions to stakeholders while guiding technical implementation, including conducting formal design reviews.
  • Ensure efficient and accurate capturing of high-level and low-level requirements.
  • Accurately and effectively implement requirements into design and code.
  • Support development efforts in alignment with schedules and quality objectives while interfacing with stakeholders to communicate technical status.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering, or Mathematics discipline.
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience with real-time embedded systems.
  • Strong understanding of Real-Time Embedded Systems (RTES) and Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS).
  • Experience with safety-critical software development.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ or similar embedded languages, as well as Python or equivalent scripting languages.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root-cause investigation skills.
  • Strong communication and technical leadership skills.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required; dual citizenship should be disclosed.
  • Able to travel approximately up to four weeks per year.
