About the role
Emerson is seeking a passionate, quality-minded Embedded C++ Developer to design, develop, and maintain embedded firmware for a variety of devices in the flagship DeltaV control system. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to implement innovative solutions and ensure the reliability and performance of products used in chemical, life sciences, and energy industries. The role offers flexibility to work one day a week away from the office alongside highly motivated colleagues dedicated to developing award-winning products.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and test embedded software for new and existing products.
- Collaborate with hardware engineers to ensure hardware and software integration.
- Optimize code for performance and memory usage.
- Troubleshoot and debug system software.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer/Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related engineering degree AND 7+ years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree in the same fields AND 5+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience designing and developing embedded real-time firmware/software in C/C++.
- Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and written & verbal communication skills.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong background in networking and communication protocols.
- Experience in test-driven development and agile processes.
- Experience with commercial real-time embedded operating systems (QNX, Linux, or similar).
