Essential Functions
- Develops moderately complex web and print content and marketing materials.
- Acts as a strategic contributor for the communications team and creates marketing materials for the marketing team.
- Attends meetings designed for content planning and development.

Admissions & Financial Aid Essential Functions
- Develops moderately complex content for a variety of channels including email, SMS, print, web, social media, signage, advertising, reports, and other communications collateral.
- Writes and edits ad-hoc and campaign content for higher education marketing across diverse target audiences, adhering to branding, style guidelines, and industry best practices.
- Modifies messaging according to target audience, communication goals, and the channels employed.
- Proficiently reviews and edits content with an understanding of HTML as needed, with minimal guidance or oversight.
- Plans, creates, tests, and deploys all email, SMS, and print communications.
- Manages multiple campaigns simultaneously under tight deadlines with strong attention to detail, ensuring quality assurance, strategic sending, and delivery optimization.
- Analyzes email campaign results; identifies areas for improvement; implements enhanced strategies using A/B testing, send tracking, and KPI analysis.
- Leverages Slate Deliver capabilities and email marketing automation experience to own and implement best practices for the email/SMS/print marketing program.
- Creates Slate Portals or Express Portals for Landing Pages as needed.
- Serves as a strategic contributor for the communications team in content creation, ensuring design and branding consistency across all materials.
- Supports the marketing team in producing and editing high-quality marketing materials — including promotions, advertising, and publicity — with a consistent voice and attention to quality.
- Creates web graphics, templates, and other visual assets in alignment with University branding standards.
- Manages the Marketing Communications calendar within the team's project management system (Airtable), ensuring timely execution of deliverables.
- Maintains and updates applicable databases and tracking systems in a timely and accurate manner.
- Supports events and promotions, including vendor contact, client and designer interfacing, materials development, and milestone tracking.
- Ensures the target audiences for all email/sms/print messages align with the content for the given target audience.
- Works collaboratively with subject matter experts (SMEs), creative teams, and University departments to fact-check content, surface new stories, and ensure high-quality deliverables.
- Collaborates with department stakeholders including deans, directors, department heads, university marketing teams, and third-party agencies.
- Maintains strong working relationships between the Marketing & Communications, Systems, and Data teams for testing, monitoring, and system maintenance.
- Leads and attends meetings related to communications planning, data, and Slate Deliver.
- Attends unit-specific events and meetings to support and lead message planning and content development in alignment with University goals and priorities.
Physical Effort
- Most work is sedentary, completed within an office setting.
- Employee must be able to move about the campus to meetings and travel to locations outside of the University of Pittsburgh.
- May be required to move objects up to 50 pounds occasionally.
