ELM Operations Engineer, ELM Program Launch

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team of Amazon Associates
- Communicate policies to Associates and act as the primary information source for the team, maintaining compliance and consistency and taking corrective action when needed
- Develop performance goals and objectives to achieve customer promise expectations and ensure accuracy and quality
- Support all safety programs and OSHA compliance to ensure a safe work environment for all Associates
- Ensure procedures are followed for building security and product loss prevention
- Create, manage and support recognition and communication programs
- Partner with the management team to establish and maintain quality control standards
Job Elements
- Lift and move totes up to 49 pounds each
- Regular bending, lifting, stretching and reaching both below the waist and above the head
- Walking in the building and around area with great frequency; facilities are over a quarter mile in length
- Must be able to stand/walk for up to 10-12 hours
- Able to access all areas of building (ascending and descending ladders, stairs, gangways safely and without limitation)
Key job responsibilities
- Execute site-level launch delivery: Manage tactical launch activities for assigned sites from RME requirements through commissioning, and post-launch validation, following established quality standards and playbooks
- Maintain and drive project trackers: Own site-level launch trackers end-to-end, ensuring every milestone, owner, and commitment date is accurate, visible, and actioned on time
- Provide status updates and escalate risks: Deliver clear, data-driven updates on site-level milestones to your manager and stakeholders, proactively flagging risks and blockers before they impact timelines

- Coordinate cross-functional activities: Work with Field RME, Operations Engineering, Construction, L&D, and vendor partners to keep site launches on track and remove barriers
- Track and report on launch readiness metrics: Monitor IOQ status, staffing, training completion, spare parts delivery, and equipment commissioning for assigned sites, ensuring data accuracy in reporting tools
- Support post-launch reviews: Participate in post-launch assessments, document lessons learned, and implement corrective actions at the site level to improve future launch outcomes
About the team
The ELM team oversees the transfer of assets (MHE, Base Build, Emerging Tech) to the RME teams, working closely with Project Delivery Teams (e.g., GES, TES, MSP, AR) across Customer Fulfillment (CF), Amazon Transportation Systems (ATS), Amazon Logistics (AMZL), and Amazon Grocery Logistics (AGL). Supporting regions including North America, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa, Australia, and engaging for standardization with India/Japan, ELM's mission is to deliver a seamless, efficient building experience from the RME perspective, starting from project launch. This involves key objectives like minimizing downtime, increasing equipment availability, and ensuring RME technician readiness. The team also aims to achieve perfect maintenance accessibility, make initial spare parts available at the right cost, and coordinate external maintenance services, focusing on aligning people, processes, and resources to create a "perfect" building experience from the RME standpoint.
Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of industrial engineer, operations engineer, manufacturing engineer, or project engineer in a manufacturing environment experience
- 3+ years of maintenance or engineering experience
- 3+ years of refrigeration industry experience
- Bachelor's degree
- Work a flexible schedule including weekends, nights, and holidays
- Experience in material handling equipment (MHE) or automation environments, or experience in reliability/maintenance environments
- Experience leading cross-functional teams across engineering, operations, and field execution through launch readiness and go-live phases
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ years of commercial CO2 refrigeration applications experience
- Refrigeration Trade School certificate
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, VBA, and SQL at the intermediate level
- Knowledge of Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) programs for commercial refrigeration systems
- Knowledge of performance metrics such as OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), downtime, throughput, or quality
- Experience working with and managing third party vendors
- Experience with Six Sigma, lean manufacturing
- Experience with Six Sigma tools and Lean techniques
- Experience communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Experience in Amazon RME (Reliability Maintenance Engineering) or fulfillment operations, or experience in similar environments
- Experience with retrofits, launches, or automation deployments
- Experience building launch readiness frameworks, standard work, playbooks, and scalable deployment mechanisms across multiple concurrent sites
