Responsibilities
- Undergo formal training on various programs managed by the Division.
- Demonstrate extensive knowledge, proficiency, and the ability to work independently and efficiently while managing a diverse and sizable caseload under general supervision.
- Develop expertise in program policies, enabling you to make independent, complex eligibility decisions and apply your understanding of multiple program manuals to ensure eligibility criteria are met across various programs.
Requirements
- One year of entry level experience as an Eligibility Technician 1 with the State of Alaska; OR
- One year performing similar work that developed knowledge and skills in applying program requirements and working with client customers in stressful situations.
Qualifications
- Substitution Post-secondary education in such fields as sociology, social work, psychology, counseling, human services, vocational rehabilitation, developmental disabilities, behavioral sciences, business, public administration, or accounting may substitute for the required experience (undergraduate credits: 2.67 semester/4 quarter hours = 1 month).
Skills
- Knowledge of federal and/or state government or public assistance benefit regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Attention to detail.
- Computer skills.

- Oral and written communication.

Pay
The wage for this position increased by 3% effective July 1, 2026. The wage listed in this job posting reflects the increase.
Schedule
The work location will be determined based on the location of the most qualified candidate. This position is part of a statewide eligibility team within the Long-Term Care Unit, located in Public Assistance offices across Alaska. You will collaborate with a team of highly trained staff who uphold the agency’s mission and values in an environment built on mutual trust and respect.
