Elevator Mechanic

About the role

As an Elevator Mechanic, you will repair, replace, maintain, and inspect elevators and associated components within Verizon’s buildings. Your responsibilities include reviewing and interpreting electrical circuit diagrams, trouble-shooting and repairing various types of elevators, and maintaining and servicing associated equipment.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and interprets electrical circuit diagrams required for the maintenance and safe operation of elevators.
• Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains the various types of automatic elevators, including drum, hydraulic, single and double traction machines.
• Maintains and services associated operating equipment such as controllers, selectors, generators, cab and hatch doors, and safety equipment and controls.
• Re-ropes all types of elevators. Replaces tapes as required and inspects and maintains shaft guide rails.
• Performs inspections and makes repairs on equipment or systems as required by Verizon Practices and/or local ordinances.
• Works at unusual heights from the top of the elevator cab and in hoist way, when necessary.
• Climbs ladders, works aloft, and moves/lifts items generally not exceeding 100 lbs.
• Travels from one building location to another by public transportation or company vehicle.
• Evacuates people from elevator when required.
• May be required to perform additional duties and tasks as required by the Company.
• Works tour hours are 7am to 4pm, Monday through Friday (hours may vary).
• Overtime is as needed by the business.

• You know elevators like the back of your hand, and are anxious to put your knowledge and skills to work for the V Team.

Qualifications

• You have previous experience in elevator troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair.
• You have previous experience or schooling in electrical and/or mechanical field.
• You possess a NYC DOB Elevator Technician's License.
• You possess a NYS Department of Labor Elevator Mechanic's License.
• You possess a valid driver’s license.

Skills

• Technical skills in elevator repair and maintenance.
• Ability to work at unusual heights and climb ladders.
• Knowledge of electrical and mechanical principles.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow safety protocols.

Pay

The salary for this role in the New York location(s) is $775.50 - $2,159.00 per week.

Schedule

Works tour hours are 7am to 4pm, Monday through Friday (hours may vary). Overtime is as needed by the business.
