Elementary Teaching Assistant - Scottsdale, AZ

About the role

The position is for an Elementary Teaching Assistant at Archway Scottsdale Classical Academy in Scottsdale, AZ. The role includes supporting the lead teacher in implementing a rich Core Knowledge curriculum and can also serve as an Apprentice Teacher, learning the craft of teaching in a classical, liberal arts primary school environment.

Responsibilities

• Support the lead teacher in the implementation of a rich Core Knowledge curriculum
• Function as a second teacher in the classroom, without shouldering the burden of all planning, grading/evaluation, and parent communications
• Learn the craft of teaching through mentorship with a Master Teacher
• Many Apprentice Teachers progress to become lead teachers at either lower or upper schools (assuming a bachelor's degree)

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree is not required for this role
• Associate's or bachelor's degree preferred but not required
• Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal history background check and fingerprint clearance in accordance with state requirements
• Travel required: May need to travel locally for training and professional development opportunities
