Elementary Teaching Assistant - Phoenix, AZ

About the role

Absolutely thrilled to join Maryvale Preparatory Academy as an Elementary Teaching Assistant or Apprentice Teacher. We are part of Great Hearts, a network of academies dedicated to providing a rigorous, classical education. The role involves supporting the lead teacher in implementing a rich Core Knowledge curriculum. A bachelor’s degree is not required for this position.

Responsibilities

• Support the lead teacher in the implementation of a rich Core Knowledge curriculum
• Function as a second teacher in the classroom, without shouldering the burden of all planning, grading/evaluation, and parent communications
• Learn the craft of teaching in a classical, liberal arts, primary-school environment through mentorship with a Master Teacher
• Many of our Apprentice Teachers progress to become lead teachers at either lower or upper schools (assuming a bachelor's degree)

Requirements

Associate's or bachelor's degree preferred but not required. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal history background check and fingerprint clearance in accordance with state requirements. Travel required: May need to travel locally for training and professional development opportunities.

A bachelor's degree is not required for this role.

Pay

$16.00-$18.00/hour

Schedule

Hourly schedule, with potential for growth into lead teaching positions.
