Elementary Teacher (Mendenhall River Community School)
Full-time (1.0 FTE) elementary teaching position at Mendenhall River Community School. Requires an Alaska teaching certificate with appropriate endorsement(s).
Position Summary
The successful candidate will collaborate with the Principal, Literacy Coach, Instructional Support Team, and colleagues on instructional strategies, ongoing assessment, curriculum, and data analysis. This role focuses on building strong relationships with families and staff to meet the social, emotional, and instructional needs of each student.
Candidates should have experience with primary differentiated instructional strategies in reading, writing, and mathematics, along with a strong knowledge of Early Childhood best practices. Experience with guided reading, direct instruction, and ongoing assessment/progress monitoring is essential. The position involves learning and implementing new instructional techniques and is ideal for lifelong learners.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in education.
- Valid Alaska teaching certificate, or ability to obtain upon hire.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in education.
- Attendance at Literacy Institute and/or further training in the teaching of reading.
- Successful elementary teaching experience.
