Elementary Teacher: K, 1st
Community of Peace Academy is an urban public charter school located on the East Side of St. Paul, Minnesota, serving nearly 800 students in grades PreK to 12. This is a 10-month, full-time position reporting to the Elementary Principal. Openings are available for Kindergarten and 1st grade for the 2026-27 school year.
About the Role
The qualified applicant will hold a MN Teaching license in Elementary Education. At CPA, Responsive Classroom (RC) is implemented across all elementary classrooms. If you have not taken RC training, we will support you in implementing these strategies. The PeaceBuilders program is also implemented school-wide, and your mentor teacher will assist you in its execution. New teachers receive a mentor as well as regular support from an instructional coach.
Responsibilities
- Have a strong understanding of the Minnesota Academic Standards for 2nd Grade across content areas
- Facilitate instruction, evaluate, and assess student progress against instructional outcomes and objectives
- Develop rapport with young learners of diverse backgrounds
- Work cooperatively with individuals and teams
- Demonstrate excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication with staff, students, and parents
- Unyielding commitment to helping all students attain high academic and ethical standards of performance
