Elementary Teacher, Grade 2 - Online

About the Role

The PSOE Classroom Teacher reports to the team lead/elite teacher and is responsible for direct instruction, curriculum implementation, lesson planning, data disaggregation, and classroom management. This role ensures compliance with individual student Education Plans, Section 504 Plans, and other educational best practices while maintaining operational knowledge of state and federal education laws, behavioral management, and parent relations.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct instruction in whole-class, small group, and individual settings.
• Utilizes data-driven instruction and PSOE educational frameworks to deliver standards-driven instruction.
• Completes assessments, grading, planning, and conferences with students, staff, and families within appropriate timelines.
• Collaborates with team leads, Elite Teachers, Special Education Director, school counselors, and outside agencies to support students with exceptional needs.
• Ensures appropriate classroom implementation of Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIPs), Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs), Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and 504 plans.
• Completes additional reporting as requested by the Special Education Director or counselor.
• Develops and maintains regular family communication and community partnerships.
• Completes reports and follow-up documentation as required by administration.
• Maintains updated and documented cumulative folders for all current students.
• Contributes to a strong school education team by serving on committees and participating in local operations.
• Acts as a professional advisor to the team lead/elite teacher on classroom activities.
• Abides by all PSOE frameworks as approved by the CEO and outlined in the staff handbook.
• Maintains consistent and supportive communication for the classroom as per school frameworks.
• Assumes delegated roles for various school functions to manage team workload efficiently.
• Uses effective systems to troubleshoot problems, track progress, and evaluate workflow components.
• Contributes to the organization’s mission and reflects school priorities in program planning and management.
• Assists in planning, implementing, executing, and evaluating special projects.
• Establishes a positive, healthy, and safe work environment in compliance with legislation such as FERPA, FAPE, Section 504, and Special Education regulations.

Requirements

• Valid Indiana State Teaching License or equivalent.
• Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
• Prior successful full-time education experience in a similar setting is preferred.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit and stand for extended periods.
• Manual dexterity for tasks such as dialing a telephone and entering data into a computer.
• Ability to see and read a computer screen and printed material, with or without vision aids.
• Ability to hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors, and on the telephone.
• Ability to speak in audible tones for clear communication in classrooms, outdoors, and on the telephone.
• Physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds to shoulder height and 50 pounds to waist height.
• Ability to bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs, walk, and reach overhead.

Duties are primarily performed in a school/classroom environment but may occasionally involve field trips. The noise level is usually moderate. The role may require working evenings, weekends, and additional hours for activities such as committees, fundraisers, public meetings, and representing the organization at events.
