Elementary Teacher ( Auke Bay Elementary School)

Position Summary

The successful candidate for this position will work closely and collaborate with Principal, Literacy Coach, Instructional Support Team and colleagues on matters such as instructional strategies, ongoing assessment, curriculum and data analysis. This position works to build strong relationships with families and staff necessary to meet the social, emotional and instructional needs of each student.

Responsibilities

• Work closely and collaborate with Principal, Literacy Coach, Instructional Support Team and colleagues on instructional strategies, ongoing assessment, curriculum and data analysis
• Build strong relationships with families and staff necessary to meet the social, emotional and instructional needs of each student
• Learn and implement new instructional techniques

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in education
• Valid Alaska teaching certificate with appropriate endorsement(s), or ability to obtain upon hire

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in education preferred
• Attendance at Literacy Institute and/or further training in the teaching of reading
• Successful elementary teaching experience

Skills

• Successful experience with primary differentiated instructional strategies in reading, writing and mathematics
• Strong knowledge of Early Childhood best practices
• Extensive experience with a variety of effective instructional strategies in reading including guided reading and direct instruction
• Knowledge of ongoing assessment and progress monitoring of students
