Job Description

The primary responsibility of this position is to provide specialized instruction to students with identified special educational needs within the context of the general education classroom setting. This includes designing and implementing individualized educational plans that meet the unique needs of each student.

  • Teach reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies using differentiated instructional strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • Collaborate with other educators, parents, and related service providers to develop and implement effective educational programs for students.
  • Assess student progress regularly and adjust teaching methods as necessary to ensure academic success.
  • Participate in professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge in special education practices.

About the Role

This role requires a strong commitment to inclusive education and a passion for making a difference in the lives of children with special needs. The ideal candidate will have a Master’s degree in Special Education, certification in Special Education, and at least three years of successful teaching experience in a K-6 classroom setting.

Requirements

Applicants must hold a valid teaching certificate in Special Education and be certified to teach in Missouri. A Bachelor’s degree in Special Education is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

Experience working with students with disabilities, including those with autism, ADHD, and emotional disturbances, is highly desirable. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential for building positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.

Skills

Proficiency in using assistive technology and software to support students with special needs is a plus. Excellent organizational and time management skills are also important for managing multiple student caseloads and meeting deadlines.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $55,000 - $65,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
